An artwork divided horizontally into two sections of red and gold. Although it gives the illusion of two single monochromatic blocks of color, each contains over 4 layers to give them a subtle colour variance and fine texture that is visible even unlit. The contrast and reflectivity of the two different surfaces create a powerful draw on the eye.
These are also the most popular primary bridal colors amongst Indians. Some quality of Indian weddings, represented here by their archetypal colors, led me to paint this piece. I wanted to express their deep roots in the psyche of Indians across their many subcultures.
